Shopping Centre Management Conference 2016

With travel delays, unfortunate weather and a long wait on cold Rugby train station platform, we didn’t think that we’d make it to this year’s Shopping Centre Management Conference.

But after a refreshing sleep and a strong coffee, we arrived at the Hilton Brighton Metropole to greet both new and familiar faces for a packed day which included ‘Punk Economics’ from our presenter Adam Shaw, topical debates from industry leaders, and networking opportunities.

With the retail landscape evolving and continued rise of the importance of creating an ‘omni-channel experience’ for customers, the day’s talks explored the relationships between shopping centre landlords and retailers, and how F&B within shopping centres can enhance the customer experience and maximise income potential.

Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) is a growing sector within our business so it was encouraging to hear the success story of Brighton’s BID during ‘Shopping Centre Manager 2.0 – The Impact of Localism on the Centre Manager’s Role’.

So what do we as Recruitment Consultants gain from attending industry events?

Our business is based on people and we believe the strongest relationships are forged face to face. Our success is founded on our Consultants being immersed within the sectors in which they operate. How can we best represent a candidate without an excellent knowledge of their role and industry? How can we source the best talent for our clients if we do not have a solid understanding of their business strategy and the wider, external factors that may affect the way that they operate?

The event drew to a close with a gala dinner and the annual presentation of the Ace Awards for excellence in customer service. On behalf of all at Foundation Recruitment, we would like to applaud all of the winners for their awards. Congratulations!

Whilst we are sure that we will cross paths before then, we look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s conference. In the meantime, if you are looking for the best people or the best opportunities, please do get in touch!
