Social Media is a Game Changer

The rapid development of technology is forcing us, whether we like it or not, to constantly change our business strategies. There are so many more opportunities to interact, engage and research businesses than ever before.

Social media allows you to tap into billions of conversations. You can research and map out markets in great detail and pin point key figures you want to target in seconds. It’s slightly scary the amount of information you can find out about individuals, but if you can learn how to utilise these platforms properly, the results can be massive!

On Wednesday I attended the Social RecruitIn conference in London. After getting lost on the tubes and battling with the hustle and bustle of our busy capital I arrived at the event – It was an excellent day, really inspiring to hear the power social media has had on companies’ growth, profit, and visibility. An obvious example being Wren’s 3 man band receiving over 100,000,000 views!

Listening to the huge success social media has helped generate was a real eye-opener. However, a fact that I can’t seem to shake from my head is…

“The average billing for a consultant 30 years ago was £10k a month; today this figure is still £10k a month!”

30 Years ago, there was no CRM, no email, no mobiles, we are now so much more educated and have so many more tools, how are we are still billing the same?! This proves social media is not being utilised, and when it is – the bottom line figure can go through the roof.

The biggest take-away from the event for myself is quite simply – GET ONLINE, GROW YOUR NETWORK. So many companies have embraced technology; you can’t afford to get left behind.

Have a personality, be visible, share knowledge, tell stories, engage and the success will follow…
