Women in Real Estate Spotlight: Alex Rowbottom

Alex is no stranger to a male-dominated world; starting her career as a Personal Trainer, she was 1 of only 3 female Personal Trainers in a team of 15. Alex has always been a competitive individual, competing against men and women, she wanted to win. She showed tenacity and hunger where others didn’t and was quickly promoted to Duty Manager at the age of 21 and had responsibility for the second largest club in the company’s UK portfolio.

Alex was approached by Foundation Recruitment to become a Resourcer, an entry level graduate position with countless career prospects, unrivalled training and no glass ceiling; she grabbed the opportunity with both hands. This role was no easy learning curve for someone with no working experience in a corporate environment and only 22 years old at the time. Alex committed everything she had to be the best; dedicating herself to providing exceptional, honest and often challenging advice and service to clients and candidates alike. Her passion for Real Estate grew and grew.

Three years in, Alex had formed partnerships with some of the most sought-after employers in the Shopping Centre Management sector including Westfield, JLL, CBRE, Workman, NewRiver Retail, Landsec and McArthur Glen amongst many others. Alex had notable successes in her early career with the business including; Employee of the Year (twice!), Consultant of the Quarter (countless times…) and numerous promotions.

Seeking further challenge, Alex was tasked with spearheading business development into wider Real Estate markets as well as managing her first team. A big ask for any 25 year old….

Now as company Director, Alex leads our Manchester office with specialist teams in Shopping Centre Management, Facilities and Building Management, Regional Real Estate and Airports. Taking on management of the Manchester team, production and implementation of the business strategy as well as opening a new market, led to team growth by +350%, overall company turnover by +41% and we are now proud to say we have worked in partnership with Heathrow Airport, London Luton Airport, Leeds Bradford International, MAG, Menzies Aviation and ICTS – a market opened and led by Alex.
